In 1990 on a trip organised by my secondary school, I was introduced into wintersports. Admittedly first skiing **cough cough** and then in 1996 snowboarding.

It has been a constant in my life, Snow-Camp is a charity that also believes in the power of wintersports to transform young people lives:

Hands up I've been riding for quite a while now and I haven't been on any avalanche safety course. Mountains are scenic and serene... on blue bird days, but can quickly become scary places when white out descends and surrounds you.

So for the next season I thought about booking onto an avalanche safety course:

This is the place where I spent most of my time back in March, it’s a beautiful blend of Vercorin, and Zinal and Grimentz (Resort guides coming soon). The wide open spaces of Zinal, with plenty of off piste opportunity combined with ability to carve away between trees like Vercorin.

An excellent place to learn to ride, but also offering the more advance rider plenty of mountain from which to explore. One of the lifts in fact is a furnicular, well worth experiencing once in your life time.
